TRAIN SIDING started testing its app in April 2020, but the launch was delayed by more than a year due to the pandemic. Now that most travel restrictions have been lifted, the app is being embraced by rail enthusiasts en masse to share photos of train journeys and visits to stations and museums. People from more than 20 different countries have already signed up and are sharing their travel adventures daily with the app.
During the test period, users found that the thematic platform was highly valued. By focusing on rail-related issues, the app even reaches people who shy away from other social apps. It is experienced as positive that (model) train enthusiasts from different parts of the world can talk to each other and exchange experiences. Derailed discussions about politics and current affairs are also avoided because of the thematic focus.
Among the users of TRAIN SIDING you will find a surprisingly wide diversity of interests, including train spotters, modellers, museum volunteers, photographers and collectors, as well as professionals, such as train drivers and conductors. By the end of this year, TRAIN SIDING expects to have at least ten thousand active users.
TRAIN SIDING offers the possibility to share photos, videos and stories. Users can also send each other private messages and create group conversations. The app features a marketplace and an event calendar. The TRAIN SIDING app is available for free for Android and iOS.
