A Hungarian 'cult' locomotive: the NOHAB
The Swedish manufacturer NOHAB built diesel locomotives for the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV), the class M61 in the early 1960s. Production soon ceased when the Iron Curtain descended over Europe. The M61 nevertheless achieved cult status in Hungary and fortunately a number of these beautiful diesel locomotives have been preserved. In this two-part series you can see images of a real NOHAB parade in Tapolca in Hungary and a NOHAB in action during a special ride north of Budapest.
