The Austrian "Crocodile" - ÖBB Class 1020

This exclusive series, originally released on DVD, which can be seen here at 24Trains.tv is about the electric locomotive from the class 1020. These locomotives were built between 1940 and 1956 by a consortium of AEG, BBC, Henschel, Krauss- Maffei and Krupp for the German Railways.

In total 231 were built and after the war the Austrian Railways, ÖBB, got 44 of these locomotives. They got the nickname "the Crocodile", because of the resemblance to the Swiss “Crocodile” locomotives (class 6/8).

The crocodiles ran for years on the Austrian tracks, especially in the provinces of Tyrol, Carinthia and Styria.

An interesting, 2-part portrait of this imposing electric locomotive.
