We will travel to the high mountains of the Alps. An area full of valleys, lakes, passes and glaciers. Fl&uuml;elen, beautifully situated on one of the foothills of Lake Lucerne, is the starting point of our train journey. With the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) we travel on the Gotthard Railway, which connects North and South Switzerland and crosses the mountain range of the Alps. We pass the church of Wassen three times. The train has to rise so sharply here that several turning loops have been constructed in the mountains, so that the train passenger 'circles' around the church three times. The end station of the SBB train is G&ouml;schenen. Here we change to another line, the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB). Via the mountain village of Andermatt we go to Realp. There we change to the steam train of the Dampfbahn Furka Bergstrecke for a trip that will take us to the top of the Furka Pass at 2163 meters.

Rail Away 1: Switzerland - Flüelen - Göschenen - Realp – Furka

In this episode Rail Away will travel along the German river Moselle. The starting point is Trier which was more than 2000 years ago the second city in the Roman Empire and therefore also the oldest city in Germany. In Trier many things still remind of the Romans, including the famous black gate: The Porta Nigra. The Romans also started to cultivate wine yards along the Moselle. During the train ride, the train will thus cross many vineyards. In Bullay we take the diesel train to the famous Moselle town of Traben Trarbach. Then we continue the train journey from Bullay to the final destination Koblenz.

Rail Away 2: Germany - Mosel and Mosel Wine Railway

A journey by rail in Austria on the Ges&auml;use Railway. After leaving Linz we drive on a high-speed line to Amstetten where we change to a local train. This train runs along the Enns River, which is getting narrower and wilder. High rock walls appear on both sides of the valley. The arrival is in Selzthal in the Austrian province of Steiermark.

Rail Away 3: Austria - Gesäuse Railway - Linz-Selzthal

A journey over the Sorlandsbaan from Kristiansand, which is in the South of Norway and the gateway to Europe, to Drammen near the capital Oslo. The journey is like a film of the Norwegian landscape where you see the same thing in a thousand variations.

Rail Away 4: Norway - Sørlandet Line - Kristiansand - Drammen

Rail Away is visiting Belgium. The starting point is Li&egrave;ge. The train journey begins at the futuristic new Li&egrave;ge-Guillemins station. The InterCity makes the journey straight through the Ardennes to German-speaking Eupen. On the way, the town of Chaudfontaine is also passed, known for the water with the same name that has it sources here. Afterwards we leave from Verviers, where the local train leaves for Spa. There are numerous small stations along this route towards the city of Spa which also is well-known for the spring water with the same name.&nbsp;
