The narrow gauge Rongshan Prison Railway was a forbidden fruit until 2012. Located near Guangyuan in Sichuan Province it was off limits to foreigners and to most Chinese.
In 2012, the prison mines became normal mines and the area opened up to visitors including foreigners. However, enthusiasts had a brief window to visit as the mines closed in November 2014 and the Railway ceased to function once the salvage of useful items from the mines was complete.
These are one of the last footages with the line in action!
