Eurocity & Intercity

In this video you can see EuroCity and EuroNight trains which runs From Budapest to Hamburg (Hungária EC), to Terespol (Báthory EC), to Břeclav (Metropol EN), to Brno and Prague (Metropolitan EC). On the Hungarian section these trains use railway line 70 from Budapest to Szob. Mostly Škoda 109E (ČD class 380) locomotives are used, but some trains are carried by Škoda class 350 (Gorilla) locomotives. Who can‘t enjoy pulled international trains? EuroCity trains on railway line 70

The railway line 120a runs from Budapest to Szolnok, halfway the border with Romania. The maximum permitted speed on most of the line is 100km/h, but there are some speed restrictions. There are InterCity trains running on this line and some international trains to Bucharest, Arad and Brasov in Romania. These trains usually hauled by MÁV V43 and MÁV series 480 TRAXX locomotives, but some international trains are hauled by CFR 47 locomotives. Credits: BenceSnurik Trainspotting

InterCity  & International trains on the railway line 120a

The Hungarian railway line 1 from Budapest to Győr and Hegyeshalom (-Vienna) with a branch to Rajka (-Bratislava) has a speed of 140 and 160 km p/h. The line has significant passenger train, International and Domestic InterCity traffic. Passenger trains are served by Stadler Flirt multiple units, MÁV InterCity and Eurocity trains are usually carried by MÁV 470 and MÁV 480 locomotives. The GYSEV InterCitys are usually carried by GYSEV 470 or GYSEV 471 locomotives. International trains are carried by MÁV 470 or ÖBB 1116 Locomotives. Credits: BenceSnurik Trainspotting

Diesel trains

Railway line 142 runs from Budapest via Lajosmizse to Kecskemét and this is the last non-electrified railway line in the suburbs of Budapest. The line is in a bad state the maximum speed on the line is 60 km p/h, but for 34 kilometers the speed is reduced to 40 km p/h. You can see Metrovagonmash DMUs and Ganz M41 push-pull trains. In the summer of 2021, due to the lack of the MÁV-START passenger diesel locomotive, the 478 series/M47 locomotive pulled most of the trains on the Bakony railway.
