Annual VSM steam event in the Netherlands
On the first full weekend of September, the VSM (Veluwsche Stoomtrein Maatschappij) traditionally organizes the largest steam train festival in the Netherlands under the name “Back to Then”. Steam enthusiasts can always indulge themselves during this event. The railway line between Apeldoorn and Dieren forms the backdrop, with the home base of the VSM in Beekbergen as the epicentre.
A large number of restored steam locomotives were active on both days. The extensive collection of diesel locomotives of the VSM could also be seen in action. Two steam locomotives of the ‘Stoomstichting Nederland’ (Steam association the Netherlands, abbreviated as SSN), the 01 1075 and 23 023 were on visit. There was also model railway layouts on display at the VSM site in Beekbergen.
