Le ‘Train Rouge’ (The Red Train) runs between Rivesaltes and Axat on the northern side of the Pyrenees in France. The railway line follows the Agly and Maury rivers and the train passes through a varied and interesting landscape.
In 1878 ‘La Compagnie des chemins de fer du Midi et du Canal latéral à la Garonne’ began building a railway line in the Eastern Pyrenees to connect Carcassonne with Perpignan which was completed in 1904.
