Electrification of the Valenciennes - Thionville Railway Line

This 1955 documentary presents the main construction phases of the 25,000-volt electrification of the railway line between Valenciennes and Thionville. This railway in France connects the northwest with the northeast of the country. It is also, and still is, an important international freight link between the French Channel ports of Calais and Dunkirk with Switzerland.

On this occasion, a new locomotive (the 'CC' 14000 and 14100 series) was created to pull heavy freight trains.
