Episode 2: The Second Day – 9 November 2014
On our second day, C2 narrow gauge 0-8-0 No. 219 took a short train of sand and bricks up to the top mine at Yujiabian. These were to be used to formally brick up the mine entrance - a sign of permanent closure. We were alerted to this and managed to follow it on its journey. This was one of the last normal trains to operate on the line and certainly the last train to be observed by foreign enthusiasts although other salvage trains may have run.
