This is a Japanese private railway line from Matsue in Shimane Prefecture on the Japan sea coast of Japan along Lake Shinji to Izumo-shi with a reversal at Ichibataguchi and a branch to Izumotaisha-mae.
This line serves two religious sites and at one point it probably carried farm produce to the city of Matsue and the National Railway at Izumo-shi.
All of the trains use one or two car electric units of several designs. The reversal is there because the line from Matsue and the one from Izumo-shi once joined here to continue to the Ichibata temple.
The line beyond the junction was closed during WWII and never re-opened leaving an odd reversal for all trains seemingly in the middle of nowhere.
