In the Val Venosta - From Merano to Mals

The railway line is about 55 km long and connects Merano to Malles (Mals) , in the province of Bolzano, in South Tyrol. Also this line built by Austria and passed to Italy after the 1st World War.

This video was filmed in 1975, when the traction was dominated by steam locomotives from the class 740.

An interesting feature of the line is that the steam locomotives instead of turning around on the platform at the end of the valley, moreover like those in Pusteria Valley, used a so-called "star" which was nothing more than a set of rails and switches, where the steam locomotives going up and down they managed to turn around.
