Newly built steam locomotives of the German DB

As early as 1950, the first new steam locomotives appeared on the tracks of the young West German Federal Railroad (DB). Five new steam locomotive series were intended to modernize the old fleet.

The rapid economic rise of West Germany led to a reconsideration. There was now much more demand for modern electric locomotives and diesel locomotives. The new steam locomotive program was drastically shortened. Only prototypes of the class 10 and 66 series were built. This exclusive 1-hour film focuses on those steam locomotives, with old footage and more recent images of the steam locomotives that have been preserved.
