Part 1: With the tram-train to France
The Saarbahn has been operating in and around the state capital of Saarbrücken since 1997. In the city center it is used as a classic tram, outside as a train on the Saarbrücken - Saargemünd railway line. The French city of Sarreguemines/Saargemünd is the terminus of the only Saarbahn line and the only cross-border tram-train line in Germany.
