Part 3: The Ge 4-4 II and braking technology
The Ge 4/4 II locomotive will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2023. In the past, almost all regional trains were hauled by the Ge 4/4 II locomotive. From mid-December 2023, there will hardly be any locomotive-hauled regional trains on the Rhaetian Railway; the new multiple units will take over this task. In the film we still see the elegant locomotive with the red passenger cars of the regional trains as a memory.
Over time, the braking technology at the RhB has changed. The film shows how the brake hoses on the front of the Ge 4/4 II locomotive have changed over the last 50 years.
