Rail Away 18: City Trips - Lugano, Switzerland (Dutch)

In Rail Away Citytrips one city is the centre of the episode from which a number of day trips on the rails are made. In this episode Lugano in is the centre, located on the shores of Lake Lugano in Ticino. A touch of Italian 'dolce vita' combined with Swiss thoroughness, that is how life in the Italian-speaking canton of Tessin in Switzerland is characterized. The first trip takes the funicular (funicolare in Italian) from the foot of Monte Bré to the village of Bré on top of that mountain. The view over the city, lake and mountains immediately shows why the Swiss built this track more than a hundred years ago. The next ride starts at the top of the mountain San Salvatore with also a beautiful view. Here we are taken down in a funicular railway, so that from above we see the city of Lugano with its beautiful location on the lake getting closer and closer. The Swiss Railways then take us along the shores of Lake Lugano to Capolago. There we change to the cog railway of Monte Generoso, a mountain on the border of Italy. The view there at 1800 meters above sea level is in several ways the highlight of these Rail Away City trips in Lugano.

This version is Dutch spoken.
