Welcome to this cab ride recorded through the beautiful German Black Forest. The route runs from Konstanz via Radolfzell to Singen. This is where the actual Black Forest railway (Schwarzwaldbahn) of the former Baden State Railways begins. After leaving the Rhine Valley, the Hattingertunnel is passed behind Engen. The route now follows the Danube to its source in Donaueschingen. From there the ride continues to Villingen. From there it gradually ascends to 832 meters above sea level at Sommerau, where the highest point of the line is. This is where the actual mountain railway begins, which with its unique tracing became a model for many other mountain railways.
A height difference of 448 m is bridged over a distance of 26 km, passing 37 tunnels. The longest is the Sommerau tunnel with 1,698 m. Behind it follows the first of the two turning loops of the "Schwarzwaldbahn". Along the Gutach valley it goes to Hausach, where the Gutach flows into the Kinzig and the Schwarzwald railway follows the Kinzig valley where it eventually reaches Offenburg in the Upper Rhine Plain.
Enjoy this cab ride through the beautiful Schwarzwald!
